Turkey in Seattle: An Oral History Project

The research project, Turkey in Seattle Oral History, aims to record, archive and preserve the oral histories of people who immigrated from Turkey to the Pacific Northwest Region in the United States, no matter what their race, ethnicity and/or religion.  The overarching goal of the study is to to leave a legacy of the people of Turkey who reside in the PNW Region, and create a dialogue across communities, borders and generations. The ultimate goals of this project are:

(1) to archive the stories of immigrants who came from Turkey to the greater Seattle area (PNW)

(2) to create a digital library with the materials collected from these immigrants;

(3) to create datasets for future research

The oral histories are preserved in the Turkey in Seattle Oral History as well as in the Suzzallo Libraries, Digital Collections, under Many Paths, Many Voices: Oral Histories from the University of Washington Special Collections.
