Biography

Amina Moujtahid is a professor of Arabic and French languages and cultures.

Since graduating from the University of Mohammed V in Rabat, Morocco, she has taught in institutions of higher education in the United States for the past twenty-four years. She taught at Seattle University from 2011 to 2023, receiving the Outstanding Teaching Award from the College of Arts and Sciences for her contributions as an Arabic and French professor and head of the Arabic program.

Currently, she teaches Arabic language, culture, and media at the University of Washington. Amina has taught Arabic during the summer term at Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California since 2022.

The incorporation of traditional Arabic and Islamic cultural material, particularly drawn from the great scientists and thinkers of the classical period, has always been a key component of her pedagogical approach.
