Lucida Olson, a NELC major, has received a prestigious Irene Dickson McFarlane Tuition Scholarship for 2022-23. Lucida received enthusiastic endorsement from multiple members of our faculty. When nominating her, they commented on Lucida’s intellectual curiosity and her keen interests in Arabic, French, and sociolinguistics of the Middle East. In addition, Lucida has invested extensive time and energy in NELC's Svoboda Diaries work, a digital humanities project dedicated to transcription and study of diaries from 19th century Iraq.
